Welcome to the Affiliate Blog

Here I will write about my affiliate experiences, and basically anything affiliate related that interests me. This Blog will be updated regularly. I would say I'd update it daily, but lets face it, I am much too busy for that. For now my goal will be weekly, with the odd post in between.

Wasn't really sure what to write here today - then I placed an update into the Opinions page and it sparked a thought.

Affiliate programs with minimum payout's really don't make much sense. First off I will start by saying for those affiliates that generate thousands in sales each month, they couldn't care less, but what about those smaller guys that make just under their minimum, only to have it sit there forever. If there is a minimum $100 for payout and I make a $90 commission, I want that $90! I don't want to have to wait months. It is quite possible that I placed a single link on one page of a site, and just happened to make a sale - may never make another one again on that program, and may never collect on the commission!

If some of these programs removed their minimum not only would it make their affiliates happier, but in my opinion it would increase the sales those affiliates make! How? Well, in my case specifically I am not willing to put a ton of time and money into setting up a pay per click campaign for an affiliate program unless I know it will pay off. If I was to get that initial $90 commission I could invest some, or all, of it towards further promoting that product, which ultimately would end up in more sales, which mean more money to invest for more sales and so on! But without that initial $90, I will just let the lonely link sit buried in my site until I either make that miracle second sale to push me above the payout minimum, OR close my account just to get that cheque! (after all if I cancel my account they have to pay out the remaining balance.

This scenario is mostly hypothetical, but it makes sense logically that the lower the minimum, the sooner the affiliate can reinvest in the program, and the sooner they can start earning significantly more money for both the program and for themselves!

Is the AdSense Program a good idea?

I thought long and hard before placing AdSense on my sites. For this site, there are very few ways to generate any revenue, so AdSense wasn't a bad idea (its tough to make any real cash through an affiliate downline - in most cases.) But what about AdSense? For a small content site where you really aren't making any sales, it can generate that bit of extra income you wouldn't get otherwise. Now AdSense will never make you rich - unless of course you have some astronomical amount of traffic each day.

For actual sites promoting actual products, AdSense may not be that great of an idea. My suggestion is to be careful where you place it. If you have a directory section full of outbound links, great. In the event that actual visitors see those pages, they are likely not going to buy from you anyway's, so why not make a bit of change on their exit, but make sure you keep it off your product specific pages!

If you place the ads next to your affiliate link for widget master, chances are some of those AdSense ads are going to be for the same product, and there is the chance that your visitor will click on those ads and buy from the competition! Sure you make the 10, 15, 50 cents or whatever, but that pales in comparison to the commission you would made selling the product!

Its been a slow month for some of my affiliate programs, so I thought this topic was in order.

How can you ensure a regular income with affiliate marketing?

One simple word - diversify.

Don't simply stick with one industry, or product. Expand your efforts across a wider variety of affiliate programs, product lines, and industry's. If you heavily promote the adult industry this can be very profitable, but what happens when Goggle blocks your site(s) or the program you are promoting closes its doors? Things happen that you can predict and the best way to protect yourself is to be flexible. Sure promoting an industry heavily can bring you great success, but you need to go more wide spread. By having several web sites across a larger spectrum of industries you can ensure that the income will be more consistent, and when things turn upside down for one site you wont be left out in the cold.

If affiliate marketing is your sole income you really need to be careful. I have heard time and time again about webmasters with a single site that hit this roadblock. Their sites perform very well for a long time then WHAM they get hit hard by a Google Update, traffic plummets, sales drop, and you find yourself in the unemployment line.

The easiest way to help reduce the risk - diversify!

It seems more and more like I will be posting a weekly message to this blog. I had originally intended to post daily, but with the busy schedule of managing all my sites and the hectic day of a regular 9-5 there just isn’t the time. Weekly, is of course quite manageable.

I am still in the process of gathering some news articles to post. I have found a few but am awaiting replies from the original author (as I do not want to post anything without permission). Finding valuable affiliate related news articles is much more difficult than I had anticipated. For those searching for articles on SEO they are everywhere, but affiliate specific is slightly more difficult. I do want to put out an open invitation to anyone interesting in posting articles here. As long as they are related to affiliate marketing in some form, I have no problem approving them. If you have an article to post you have one of two choices, fire it over using my suggest program / feedback form, or, email me at info@ along with your details and bio info and I'll get it posted ASAP (likewise, if any of you know of a great source for me to find valuable content, please fill me in!)

I have dozens of ideas floating around with what I really want this site to be about. Not exactly sure where I plan on going with it. About a year ago I started this site - it basically sat dormant for several months. Its only been in the past few weeks that I have taken an interest into populating it with valuable content and turning it into something useful for my visitors. I think the initial reasoning for the delay is that there is no real way to make substantial money off of a site like this. Sure there are the Google AdWords on the site, but that only brings in pennies. Some day down the road if things get as significant as I am hoping, I can always sell advertising - but that's not going to happen any time soon (as far as I can tell).

Last weekend I decided that this site needed a bit of a graphical refresh. I liked the plain simple design previously in place. It was fast loading and simple - but not simple as in appealing. Unfortunately I am not a design expert, so I have to go with what I like and hope others like it also. This new look, while VERY similar to the old, is basically sharpened up a bit, the menu on the right, and the logo/header are slightly adjusted to look cleaner and more professional. AND Finally I customized the look of the Google AdWords! Not sure what I was thinking with that previous tan color set.

I am quite interested to see where this site goes. I think the domain affiliateinfo.org has some serious potential providing I can keep advancing the site. Is there really a market for an affiliate site of this kind? Well, I plan to find out. There are just so many affiliate sites floating around - various programs, info sites (typically pitching programs for their down
lines) etc. Sure I provide links along with my down line ID's, but don't expect to make much doing this.

I think there is only so much I can do myself to make this site a success. What will really make it stand out and do well is if I can manage to recruit visitors to provide me with their reviews of various programs. If this can be done I am pretty sure the content will grow quickly and the site as a whole will become much more credible and successful. Please! If you have any comments about any affiliate program, let me know! I will post your comments anonymously if you prefer, or along with a link, email, name, whatever contact info you would like. Help me help the visitors!

To give anyone who cares the heads up, my goal over the next week is to expand the "opinion" page and complete a few more write-ups for various programs. This is an important page for me to complete and I would hate to let it slip through the cracks.

That's about it for today, until later (next Wednesday at the latest) I will write more!

There are a number of affiliate programs I have joined, and will soon be adding my thoughts about each one in a new section to the site. I had originally thought about adding them to the current review sections, however, decided that they are better off on a summary page. The reviews sections are better off for users of this site to post their opinions. Any personal opinions of the webmaster (myself) should be kept to an area separated from the rest. If you want to see what I have to say about a variety of affiliate programs visit the new page, "Affiliate Programs" Here you will find my biased opinions about which programs are the best and worst. Here you'll see my honest thoughts.

I will provide a link for you to check out the actual program, and since I am in this game to make a few bucks, I have obviously linked using my affiliate ID (where applicable) After all, should you choose to sign up with any of them, it doesn't cost you a dime to have me as your up line! Take a look at my thoughts! Keep in mind this page is still in progress and I am adding new "reviews" all the time. Before long all the descriptions will be completed and I will begin to add new programs as I experience what they are about.

Well, this is the first entry into this affiliate blog, and as anything else, it always seems difficult to figure out what to say when starting out.

It was just over a year ago when I created my first affiliate web site and entered into the world of affiliate marketing. I may still be quite new at this compared to the many affiliate marketers who are out there making a strong living at this, however, I still manage to do alright supplementing my regular full time income. The goal of course is to ultimately have affiliate marketing as my part time work from home job providing more then a full time income. I am sure this will come as my earnings do increase each month.

There are a number of programs I promote, some bring me steady cheque's, others bring the occasional bit of income. Overall things are moving along quite nicely - when one program is slow, the others tend to pick up the slack.

I currently promote a variety of products ranging from sexual enhancement to natural skin treatments, online internet tools and software to ebooks and electronics. By far to date the biggest money maker for me has been with Leading Edge Cash. This program has generated more than half of my total affiliate income to date. There are a number of other valuable programs such as Zenmed and MensNiche, but Leading Edge Cash so far converts the most.

This high conversion for LEC products is largely due to my promoting of these products. For the first 6 months or so, this is where most of my energy was directed - setting up a small network of sites for the sole purpose of promoting Leading Edge Cash products. More recently I have started to widen the scope of my marketing and begin promoting a wider range of products. While the income from these other products is still quite low, it is very early and will likely take some time before they start converting and generating more search engine traffic.

Essentially for anyone looking to start promoting online affiliate programs in the field of sexual health I strongly recommend Leading Edge Cash.

As time goes on, I will continue to write about my affiliate experiences and update this page as often as possible. If I have any negative or positive experiences of interest this is the place you will find them!

For now, I will leave it at that. If you have any comments about any affiliate programs, please let me know! Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!
